Q & A: Alcohol and Macros?

Question & Answer Series:

Let's talk alcohol and counting macros. 🍹🍾

We frequently get asked how drinking alcohol and counting macros works. In honor of the Super Bowl tomorrow we thought we would address this seeing has some will partake in an adult beverage during the big game.

I'll start this off by saying Todd and I do not drink for many reasons, but alcohol will put a huge damper on weight loss.

Alcohol is its own macro nutrient but it's not technically figured into daily macros. Therefore, if it is consumed it needs to be subtracted from either your daily carbs or fats. You can choose which one it comes from and subtract from your bank.

How to calculate what you deduct:

CARB BANK: Take the number of calories in your alcoholic beverage and divide by 4. ( 4 kcal per gram) Example: if your drink is 360 calories you would deduct 90g from your daily carbs.

~~~~~OR~~~~~
FAT BANK: Take the number of calories in your beverage and divide by 9. ( 9 kcal per gram) Example= 360 calorie drink would take 40g of fat.
WOWZA!
